The recently completed extension has a pitched roof so we supplied the pergola at a slightly lower height than usual to sit directly above the guttering, so the pergola feels like a small extension of the house itself.

The 2400mm high pergola is sat directly in front of the sliding doors that lead out from the kitchen, so the new pergola now feels like a functional area connected with the open plan kitchen space. The raised decking area adds to the inside, outside feel of the space but the elevated deck does draw in the attention of the neighbours. This is negated however by the aluminium shutters and the grey tinted glass sliding doors that add a significant amount of privacy into the new 3m x 3m pergola space.

Tinted sliding glass doors

The homeowners wanted the flexibility of sliding glass doors but liked idea of retaining privacy from the neighbours, so we supplied them with 10mm thick anti-sun glass with a grey tint.

The sliding doors can slide to open the pergola or close the space off to protect from the elements, while the tinted glass reflects the light to provide the privacy required by the homeowners.
